Vehicle Storage Policy
Effective Date: 11/15/2005
The following rules have been adopted by the Homeowners Association of Boyd Lake Shores. First Filing in accordance with section 3.15 Storage Policy.
Definitions:
- Recreational Vehicles (RV) are defined as any boat, motor home, trailer or any other recreational vehicle.
- Large RVs are any RV whose tallest point is higher than 10 feet above the ground.
- Small RVs are any RV whose tallest point is lower than 10 feet above the ground.
Summer Months Rules: (Summer months are defined as May 1 thru September, inclusive) : During the summer months, small RVs may be stored anywhere on a homeowner’s property. Large RVs may not be stored on the homeowner’s property.
Winter Month Rules: (Winter months are defined as October 1 thru April, inclusive) : During the winter months large RVs may not be stored on the homeowner’s property. All small RVs must be stored behind or on the side of the residence. Specifically, the small RV must be stored behind the street side corners of the residence. Additionally, the stored RV may not extend beyond the corner closest to the stored RV. For cases where RV storage follows these rules but is still unsightly, a grievance process may be used to petition the board for changes.
Grievance Process: In order to start a grievance process, a signed, written complaint must be presented to the board by a Boyd Lake Shores First Filing homeowner’s association member in good standing.
Allowed Exceptions: During any time of the year RVs may be parked on the property for a period of time not to exceed 3 consecutive days, or a total of no more than 9 days in any rolling 30 day period, for such activities as needed to prepare for or return from use.
Enforcement Policy: The Homeowners Association will enforce the above rules as follows:
- A letter will be sent to the non-compliant homeowner.
- If the issue has not been resolved in 10 days another letter will be sent to the homeowner.
- If the issue has not been resolved in another 10 days, remedy will be pursued via section 7.7 in the covenants. Remedies may include liens, court action, and/or recovery of damages.
