Boyd Lake Recreation Rights
Please see link below: We have posted the Zebra Muscle rules from the State Parks. It is everyone's responsibility to be in compliance with this state regulation!!
As HOA members should be kept aware of developments surrounding the conflict of Boyd Lake State Park recreation rules and regulations with our full use recreation rights the HOA purchased from GLIC in 1972, the BOD will be posting relevant information on this page.
Many meetings were held with Park officials, the public, and HOA board members during the summer of 2011. The initial stance of the state was that no swimming would be allowed on Boyd outside of the designated swim beach and they were planning on enforcing this regulation.
In September Eric (the BL superintendent) presented a proposal to moderate the swimming rules for Boyd Lake. Please see the link below to the proposal.
Eric has requested that the HOA boards on the lake reply to him with comment by the end of September 2011.
Some highlights of this proposal are:
- Eric was firm in his view that there would be no swimming allowed in the marina area
- Swimming outside the three ‘No Wake’ zones designated for multi-use will be strictly enforced
- Homeowners should be aware that boaters may decide to swim in the ‘No Wake’ zone which does not happen today.
- The north ‘No Wake’ boundary and the east 'No Wake' zones will need to be moved as the lake drops. Eric was concerned about unknown underwater hazards in the area just south of the east west line on the north end. He was open to the investigating the issue and if he considered it safe the line would be moved south as the lake lever fell. This also applied to the other zones on the east side of the lake.
- We have till the end of September to send in comments. Although this is not an official comment period he wants to move the proposal forward so all logistics can be completed for the start 2012 season. This includes additional buoys, signage, updated documentation etc.
- Members asked if he had the authority to implement this proposal. Eric assured us that he will be able to implement this type of plan.
